Nice to meet you! My name is Ashton Chase. I’ve been designing weddings and events in Austin for six years, and have studied floral design in Tokyo, Kyoto and Seoul. With a background in television and theatre production, I bring a storyteller’s eye to floral design. Before stepping fully into floristry, I worked behind the scenes on set, where details like color and composition shaped a scene’s emotional impact. That experience continues to inform my approach today.
As a floral designer, I create arrangements that feel intentional and expressive. I’m drawn to the interplay of structure and movement, blending contemporary and garden style with ikebana influence. My work is guided by a deep appreciation for the transformative power of visual art.
I started The Spotted Poppy in 2020 after years of working in flower shops. As I was testing out names for the business, I couldn’t help but reflect on the elegance of the poppy, from its name to its form. Upon studying different kinds of poppies, I came across the Ladybird Poppy, which was spotted at the base of each petal, and "The Spotted Poppy" was born.
